“The story of interdependence allows us to develop a wider perspective. With a wider mind, there is less attachment to destructive emotions like anger, therefore, more forgiveness. In today’s world, every nation is heavily interdependent, interconnected. Under these circumstances, destroying your enemy—your neighbor—means destroying yourself in the long run. You need your Neighbor. More prosperity in your neighbor, you’ll get the benefit.” -Dalai Lama
If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas. --George Bernard Shaw
“I am proud to have been in a business that gives pleasure, creates beauty, and awakens our conscience, arouses compassion, and perhaps most importantly, gives millions a respite from our so violent world.” --Audrey Hepburn

We must stop using the Bible as though it were a potpourri of inerrant proof-texts by which we can bring people into bondage to our religious traditions…We must no longer use the Bible as the Pharisees used the Torah when they gave it absolute and final status. Christian Biblicism is no different from Jewish legalism. It is the old way of the letter, not the new way of the Spirit. --Robert Daniel Brinsmead
“Nobody can hurt me without my permission”--Mahatma Gandhi & Heather Dalton Refrigerator Note for Wednesday, March 30.

THIS WEEK'S REFRIGERATOR NOTE: One of my deepest convictions is that the terrible harms that are done in this world are not done by deliberately evil people, who are not numerous and are soon found out. They are done by the good—by those who are sure that God is with them. Nothing can stop them, for they are certain that they are right. --Max Perkins
BAKE SALE ON SUNDAY! Don't forget, we will be selling baked and canned goods after each service on Sunday to help Janet Blank raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. COME HUNGRY!
REFRIGERATOR NOTE: The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd; indeed in view of the silliness of the majority of mankind, a widespread belief is more likely to be foolish than sensible.--Bertrand Russell (1870-1970)
